Responses by Oleh Koval, founder and chief executive officer, Koval Web.
Background: The mission of Koval Web is to create fast websites. Nobody likes to wait; everyone wants it now. Despite the statistics, there are very few really fast websites out there. Google is talking about this and is launching Core Web Vitals in 2021. You can read our article on it here.
Design core: Before approving the current style, I rejected three other designs that were developed. I clearly understood what I wanted to get from this site, and I’m happy with the result. Since we wanted to concisely display the information on the site, we came to the conclusion that this style of design is best.
Challenges: The most difficult thing was to correctly present the idea of creating fast websites. I understand perfectly well that no one reads websites, but they are viewed. And it was necessary to make the site clear and simple with minimal information—and besides that, to emote through the text.
Divergent paths: I made mistakes and misaligned priorities and some work processes during the site’s development. This was due to the design and the writing of copy. I did not approve things until after I’d written the text and started to design the site; because of this, I had to redo everything. Now I clearly understand all the processes.
Navigation structure: I wanted the site to be clean. There is nothing superfluous to distract. Some links were shown immediately in the first section, but otherwise, the site navigation is hidden in a burger menu.
