Recently launched in conjunction with a complete brand identity, this e-commerce site aligns perfectly with the brand’s individualist philosophy.
The site offers visitors the ability to custom-design handbags. More importantly, it’s a unique and personalized experience with thousands of handbag preview options, full 360-degree virtual views, zoom-in capabilities, the ability to save and share bags and view them on to-scale mannequins of varying heights.
The developers really paid attention to site usability, making the technology transparent and the design seamless, including a custom shopping cart with several dynamic components such as automatic pricing for various leather options.
• The site took a team of ten people approximately eight months to produce.
• Comprised of more than 1,000 pre-render 3-D assets, that are dynamically loaded and updated via CMS, the site contains 8 unique bag profiles with 340 individual material renders. In total the configuration manages upwards of 1,300 unique renders representing each silhouette and its available materials.
• A CMS allows the client to manage their online inventory as new materials become available and old ones go out of style.
• The load structure is balanced and prioritized dynamically based on the user’s navigation through the site; during an average user experience the site will transfer upwards of 50 to 75 megs of assets.
• The front-end was developed on the Flash platform in Actionscript 3.0 and all server side scripting is done via PHP and uses XML/SOAP to communicate with the CMS.
• Average user time is 4:30. Since launch the site’s received just under 40,000 page views and 9,000 unique visitors.
