Background: The site was created as an independent promotional concept for Longbow, a United Kingdom–based startup developing lightweight electric speedsters and roadsters. Its purpose was to present the cars as a meeting point between classic British engineering and modern electric technology. The target audience includes automotive enthusiasts, design-conscious buyers, investors, media and people interested in performance EVs with a strong heritage-driven identity.

Design core: The visual system is built around Longbow’s photography, with a restrained black, white and gray palette that keeps the cars at the center. We paired a technical monospace typeface with Garamond to create tension between innovation and tradition. A visible four-column grid references engineering drawings and gives the layouts a precise, architectural rhythm. Large typography, cropped imagery and controlled motion make the site feel more like an automotive poster than a conventional product page.

Challenges: The lack of original motion content. A dynamic automotive presentation needs movement, so we used AI tools to generate video sequences from static car photography. This involved substantial experimentation with camera movement, reflections, lighting and road environments. The goal was not simply to create visual effects but to make the generated footage feel believable and consistent with the brand’s premium, engineering-led character.

Navigation structure: The structure follows the product range. The main page introduces Longbow’s philosophy, visual world and team, while dedicated Speedster and Roadster pages let visitors explore each model in more detail. This keeps the journey simple: users first understand the broader brand story, then move naturally into the specifications and personality of each car. The compact navigation supports the focused, minimal nature of the experience.

Technology: We built the site in Webflow and extended it with custom CSS, HTML and JavaScript where the standard platform was not enough. GSAP powers the main animations and motion behavior, including scroll-based transitions and interface effects. AI generation tools supported the creation of video content from still photography. We also used custom code to integrate the media, refine responsive behavior and preserve the strict four-column layout across different sizes of screens. The result combines Webflow’s flexibility with a more tailored front-end implementation.
