As part of a comprehensive rebrand, Munich, Germany–based digital design agency MING Labs created this website with development help from Berlin-based digital agency Relax, we are the good guys and software engineer Pavel Zyryanov. The new site reflects MING Labs’s Asian and European heritage, as well as the simple, elegant solutions it provides for clients. 明, the Mandarin character for míng or “bright,” contains both the characters for “moon” and “sun”—bringing together the two most powerful yet contradictory sources of light into one concept. The site design also brings together the contrast of night and day by visually referencing light waves connecting the site’s two parts: the creative Work side (night) and the informative About side (day). The front-end of the site was built with Node.js and Roots.cx, with back-end modules written in RequireJS and compiled in Babel. Since launching the site, MING Labs has seen an increase in RFPs by 1,000 percent—and all kinds of virtual applause around the Internet.
This microsite celebrates Herman Miller’s updated iconic chair with large imagery and video content.
