Background: Only a few hours away from Austria, Switzerland and Italy, Munich is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. The city itself offers so much that I decided to create a city guide with the best places to see. Not only is the guide interesting for tourists, but it can also help locals as it has some insider tips to the city.
Highlights: What makes this website so interesting is its clean editorial design look, with its full-screen videos and versatile grid—a classic one pager without the typical chapter separations.
Challenges: The guide is structured into four chapters with three to nine points in each section. The most challenging aspect was to create a site that surprises the user when she or he is scrolling from the beginning to the end.
Favorite details: The grid. It seems simple, but this twelve-part grid is divided into different individual parts. The interplay between the lines that separate every point shows the detailed editorial web design.
Time constraints: I developed this project in my free time. Because of the short time I have for these personal projects, I have to keep it simple. My sites are rather minimalistic yet interesting with the full-screen videos and the unusual grid.
Anything new: This site was designed with Readymag, an online tool that helps users with web design. The tool gives users a great and simple way to find out whether the site concept is working and it differs from Photoshop because it shows the on-screen results in the browser.
