This educational site created for the National Museum of the American Indian tells the story of Native American communications specialists (later called "code talkers") who transmitted "coded" military messages in their native languages during World Wars I and II. With an interface and content reminiscent of the PBS sites that became popular a number of years ago, the site's intended as a resource for middle school students.

• ActionScript handles large amounts of XML data and hundreds of media assets in an efficient way and Flash provides the custom interfaces for storytelling and interactivity.

• Content brought to life with audio quotes, music, maps and historic photographs, documents and objects serves as a concise, yet thorough introduction to the topic.

• Like other sites intended as educational tools, the multi-threaded story includes educational activities embedded within the experience, lesson plans and lists of additional resources.
