Since 2008, the trade and employers’ organization Danish Shipowners’ Association has collected and published its fuel consumption data to promote its commitment to cutting international shipping’s carbon footprint. Copenhagen, Denmark–based agency Spring/Summer designed and developed an online experience for the association’s annual publication. Assets loaded near the viewport and dynamic chapter breakers with cut-out text divide the site’s information into a responsive layout. Animated waves introduce the navigation, with code-generated motion developed through Canvas. To enable full-screen animations, Spring/Summer rendered the entire site in Canvas before adding typography, which was kept sharp by utilizing traditional HTML for its display. The elegantly designed site has received positive feedback from the Danish Shipowners’ Association as well as the design community online.
