Immigration does not damage the US workforce. In fact, New American Economy (NAE) argues that immigration reform—including strengthening border security, increasing educational and employment opportunities for immigrants, and giving undocumented people a path to citizenship—will create more jobs and strengthen the US economy. By Boston-based digital creative studio Upstatement, this site helps US citizens learn how immigration affects the economy and gets them to act.

A simple navigation system goes hand in hand with the site’s predominantly typographic design. Infographics illuminate NAE’s key points, and an interactive map of the United States breaks down how immigrants impact local economies by district or metropolitan area. “NAE needed a way to use its economic data to make a persuasive case for immigration reform,” says Scott Dasse, creative director at Upstatement. “We identified that stats and simple infographics were the best way to do this. We designed interfaces and tools to generate hundreds of charts and dashboards that users can explore by key issues or location.”

The site was also part of a larger campaign to educate people on the issues of immigration reform. The site accepts and features user-submitted videos on how immigration reform affects you and your industry—everyone from farmers to faith leaders to teachers to tech founders. Visitors are also encouraged to interact with their local leaders on the interactive map page; the site offers graphic cards to share on Facebook and suggested Tweets that include facts on immigration’s economic impact.
