For World AIDS Day on December 1st, New York City dedicated a monument—by architect firm studio ai and artist Jenny Holzer—to the more than 100,000 victims of AIDS and to the people who have fought for research and for the disease’s visibility. Interactive studio Cloudred created an online companion for the monument, which serves as an online hub for information on the AIDS Memorial. The colorful design reflects the LGBT+ movement’s rainbow flag, with vivid angular overlays that reference the monument’s triangular shape. Minipages encourage exploration of Greenwich Village and its historical importance to the LGBT+ movement, and invite visitors to purchase a poster made to commemorate the AIDS Memorial by artist Kobi Benezri. Visitors can also share their personal stories with the fight against AIDS on social media using the hashtag #nycaidsmemorial for a chance to be featured on the site.
