Background: We were challenged with creating a brand platform for California-based Oasis Cannabis Co., bringing its digital presence to life in a manner that stayed true to its weird, wacky visuals and tone of voice in an impactful, engaging manner. The brand specializes in creating cannabis-based edible treats with a strong sense of community at its heart.
Design core: Our goal for the site was to best represent Oasis’s concept by creating an authentic, immersive brand experience that almost gets you high by just scrolling through it! We opted for brave and bold typography throughout that felt in line with the brand. The explosion of color that greets users upon arrival sets the tone for what’s to come, as does the immersive opening entrance that entices visitors to explore further.
The brand is built upon its vibrant visuals and fun tone of voice that pushes boundaries, and we factored these into the site design through various microanimations that pepper the experience. The authentic, striking illustrations created by Pablo Espinosa form a core part of the design and help breathe life into the whole experience.
Favorite details: We at Superhero Cheesecake believe that digital interactions should have an emotional quality to encourage deeper connection with the brand. Within a tight timeline for this project, we still managed to combine our visual design with powerful moments of motion to create a living, breathing digital experience full of personality, making Oasis’s new website memorable and enjoyable for the user. We’re particularly proud of the intro as well, because it captures the imagination with a unique entry point and catches your attention right from the first click.
Challenges: Ensuring that the performance of the site made for a premium experience while incorporating various animated elements.
Divergent paths: In our pursuit of perfection, we always strive to make things better. We wouldn’t say we would like to start this project over, but if we had the ability to build upon what we’ve created, we would love to further bring Oasis’s vibe into each and every detail of the site.
New lessons: For the first time, we used transparent videos due to the various moving animations all being large files. The end result was quite perfect, and the performance and aesthetics of the site speak for that.
Special technical features: We love the way the product carousel came off. Make sure to give it a good spin!
