Based in Agios Dimitrios, Greece, designer and jeweler Evanthia Tavla upcycles materials and creates elegant jewelry with them under the brand name Ode Goods, with help from Dimitra Kotsani. For Ode Goods’s e-commerce platform, Athens-based design firm Big Horror Athens undertook the design, development and photography direction, with high-quality photographs by Giorgos Vitsaropoulos and videography by Vasia Hatzigiannaki. Prominent typography with subtle scroll-reveal animations brings the site’s content to life; Big Horror Athens created custom animations that enhance each component in different ways, with images that move left to right and right to left. Lazy loading, server caching and highly compressed, lossless images ensure load times are kept down.
For the navigation, Big Horror Athens considered how visitors would interact with the site on different devices. To guarantee a pleasant experience, the design firm decided to opt out of the recently normalized stuck header and kept the navigation bar at the top of the page, enabling more space for viewers to examine Ode Goods’ products. Pages on the site organically connect to each other as well; the homepage serves as a hub for the site’s different sections, and each product page links to other product pages as well as to Tavla’s “About the Artist” page. Big Horror Athens’s careful planning ensured that no page is a dead end.
Built in WordPress with PHP and the e-commerce platform WooCommerce, the site has received 14,000 visitors since its launch and has garnered features from Awwwards and Behance.
