Background: ORKEN is a new fantasy transmedia project developed by the renowned art studio and intellectual property (IP) creation company SIXMOREVODKA. The site is a key part of the promotional campaign for ORKEN, which will be launching soon on Kickstarter. It primarily serves to introduce the new IP to SIXMOREVODKA’s existing fanbase, while also aiming to attract a broader audience who may be unfamiliar with the studio’s work.
Design core: The site is designed as a simple, one-page promotional webpage with the primary function of introducing the ORKEN IP. The site’s visual style was heavily influenced by the preexisting design elements from SIXMOREVODKA, including book cover art, typography and the general aesthetic of its artwork. My role was to bring this style to the web by integrating modern animations and high-end web design trends. The goal was to create an engaging, smooth-flowing experience that effectively introduces users to this new IP. I also focused on designing distinct layouts and animations for each section of the site, ensuring the content felt entertaining and kept the user’s attention.
Challenges: Definitely the tight deadline. From concept to design, development and final polish, the entire site was completed within a span of just three weeks. From a development perspective, the most difficult aspect was the transition between sections two and three, which involved a complex triangular animation. I experimented with several approaches before settling on an SVG animation. While it’s not perfect, I believe the final result is satisfactory given the time constraints.
Technology: For design, I used Figma to craft the initial visuals. The site itself was developed from scratch using Nuxt 3.0. The animations are powered by GSAP, ensuring smooth transitions and interactivity. I used Storyblok as the CMS, while the site is hosted on Netlify.
