Background: This new website is the official online home for Parostec, a premium construction company based on the Greek island of Paros. The company has been building exceptional holiday homes of outstanding architectural value for more than three decades and are leaders in its local market. Its new website is part of a wider rebranding effort, and the site’s purpose is to showcase the company’s work, communicate its unique philosophy and methodology, and also attract new talent to join its team.
Parostec’s clients are high-income, influential individuals from Greece and abroad who are interested in investing in property in the Cyclades. The objective was to create a website that would appeal to this very niche demographic, convey a premium aesthetic, and at the same time, retain the hands-on and grounded personality of a family-owned construction company.
Design core: The site’s main feature is a portfolio of completed projects that demonstrate Parostec’s expertise and scope of work. This portfolio is showcased on the homepage and is presented as an ongoing gallery of projects with eye-catching photography. The design is minimalistic and based on Parostec’s new brand identity; the black-and-white palette, the various graphic symbols and the font are all part of the identity we designed for the client. All the messaging and copy was developed by us.
Favorite details: We’re particularly happy with the way we managed to capture a very specific aesthetic that brings to mind Greek-island minimalism and high architecture while simultaneously conveying something more practical, innovative and technical—the personality of a construction company. The website is practical and at the same time visually indulging, a difficult balance to strike. For Parostec’s visual identity, we designed an entire graphic system based on a vocabulary of symbols inspired by construction plans. The way these symbols are incorporated into the entire website is like bringing the brand identity to life. This makes us smile.
Special navigational features: The navigation is pretty straightforward with a very clear menu that is always visible and a content architecture without any surprises. However, there is a special navigational feature inside the Projects page, where users can browse Parostec’s projects. We have two modes for viewing the projects: one is the Selected Projects mode—with detailed presentations of the best case studies—and the second is the Index mode. The latter is an extensive timeline of Parostec’s entire list of projects, both completed and in progress. This way, we can curate the best and most photogenic projects in one section and keep everything else published in a list without images.
Technology: We designed the website using Adobe Creative Cloud. For the development, we made custom coding from scratch. On the back end, we used a custom WordPress installation, and for the front end, various libraries such as GSAP and three.js.
