New Orleans agency Peter A. Mayer Advertising created this site to coincide with the end of the 2006 hurricane season. It's an interactive data visualization experiment "disguised" as an oral history documenting the individual experiences of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Containing 44 video narratives, it's a simple, but never simplistic, dialogue and documentation of people's recollections of Hurricane Katrina.

• Compelling, raw video that offers an unedited look at people's memories of the storm and the fallout.

• The minimal design of the interface (a browser-screen-sized X with 44 bulleted names) allows the stories to take center stage.

• The intent watching and rewatching—to catalog the emotional and logistical themes running through the videos—proved to be the most difficult aspect of the build.
