An intersection between audio documentary and interactive site, RadioEight offers a curated collection of children’s dreams, narrated by children from Africa, Asia and the Americas. Conceived and created by Mark Bashore and Katrina Crawford of multidisciplinary creative studio Yonder, interactive studio Belle & Wissell, Co. led the collaborative design, development and production of the interactive web experience, with ambient original music composed by music designer Jesse Solomon Clark. The resulting website captures the character and atmosphere of a dream; the visual experience of the main page centers on a swirling cloud of node elements that materialize, float and evaporate through a surreal 3-D environment. A shifting, nebulous background and muted colors elicit organic forms and the hazy nature of memory. RadioEight encourages viewers to explore its content, either by selecting the nodes that appear, or by a color-coded strip of threads located at the bottom of the page that represents every dream recording.
