Re-nourish facilitates the adoption of sustainable graphic design practices—actually making design sustainable instead of merely relaying what it “could be”—by providing the industry with practical and reliable tools and resources. The site filters a complex, and sometimes politically slanted topic, into a digestible and coherent message for a broad design audience.
Every link, vendor, tip and definition is measured against sustainability criteria developed through academic and scientific research combined with input provided by industry professionals (the site receives no financial support from any company, including those referenced on it). Technology and best practices are changing every day, so criteria and the resource database are constantly being updated.
• The site was in development for 1.5 years.
• At last count the site contained over 130 image files. There’s also been discussion about adding other media features, like podcasts and videos and self-guided educational modules.
• A Project Calculator enables visitors to save projects to track environmental savings over time.
• The CMS was built by Israel Alvarez at metrob.us.
• Since launching quietly in July, the site’s received 3,241 unique visitors and close to 5,582 visits in total.
• Since the relaunch the three designers who manage Re-nourish have received offers to lecture at events from Beijing to Phoenix.
