Background: Artist management company Schumann & Company (S&C) represents a select, award-winning group of photographers and directors across North America. The purpose of this site was to relaunch S&C with a clean, speedy and dynamic gallery experience to showcase its newly established and expanded roster. The site was the foundation and core of a strategic marketing initiative that included print ads, digital promotions and trade exhibitions.
Favorite details: Chicago-based design studio Mighty Few and development firm Static Interactive utilized barba.js for elegant, seamless page transitions. Brett Burwell of Static states that the team is especially happy with the way the animation turned out. Beyond providing a seamless experience that really lets the artwork shine, great care was taken to handle the details of each individual section in a way that breathes life into the site and encourages users to explore all of our incredible imagery.
Technology: The front end was built with HTML, SCSS and JavaScript. The back end is powered by Craft, letting us easily update the content.
Challenges: Timely delivery and launching during a pandemic. Writing and editing the content—and knowing exactly what I wanted to showcase—took a lot of time and consideration. Ultimately, the artists’ work is showcased in a boldly simple manner that truly highlights the detail and passion behind the imagery. I wouldn’t do a thing differently.
