Responses by Malvah Studio.

Background: The site exists to mark a big moment for Seventeen: the transition from a moving image studio into a fully-fledged creative agency. It’s both a celebration of how far the team has come and a clear signal of who they are now.

The audience includes prospective clients, collaborators and future team members; people who care deeply about craft, originality and thoughtful creative work. The site is designed to spark curiosity and encourage users to explore to uncover more, reflecting Seventeen's human and collaborative approach to creativity.

Design core: The site evokes an editorial feel, intentionally considered and curated to create moments of quiet in contrast to the noise of the creative internet. At its core is the vertical stack of interactive “color tapestry” on the homepage, with each one revealing a project and acting as a gateway into Seventeen’s work.

This tapestry acts as an infinite thread, a simple but powerful metaphor for an ever-evolving body of work and a living archive. The overall design language is minimal but expressive, allowing the branding, motion and interactions to do the heavy lifting without ever feeling overwhelming.

Favorite details: What we’re most proud of is how seamlessly the site brings together Seventeen’s new brand world and the digital experience. Seventeen led the branding and identity, and we worked closely with its team across creative direction, interaction design and development to translate that thinking into a living, breathing website.

It was a genuinely collaborative process. The ideas were shaped together, challenged, refined and pushed further through constant dialog. The end result feels thoughtful, confident and true to the agency in a way that only happens when both teams are aligned.

Special navigational features: There are several playful and considered navigational moments across the site, particularly on the homepage, About page and Contact page. The homepage introduces a unique landing experience that flows directly into page transitions, setting the tone for how the site moves and behaves from the very first interaction. We loved crafting the hover states and interactions on the About page, where motion becomes part of the storytelling rather than a layer on top. The Contact page is especially fun—best experienced with sound on—offering a light, unexpected moment that reflects Seventeen’s personality.

Within a relatively small sitemap, we focused on creating moments and playful interactions that bring the brand to life without overwhelming the experience. These details help the site feel human, expressive and distinctly Seventeen.

We worked closely with the Seventeen team and developer Geoff Dawes to problem-solve how expressive motion and narrative-driven interactions could live within a performant, user-friendly build. Through custom code, we were able to create these moments without compromising usability, accessibility or flow.

New lessons: This project was a strong reminder that simplicity, when done with intention, is incredibly powerful. By stripping back excess and focusing on what matters most—the work, the people and the ideas)—we were able to create a more powerful and lasting digital experience.

It also reinforced the value of true collaboration. This wasn’t a handover relationship; it was a partnership, one we’re incredibly proud of and excited to continue building as we make more magic together in the future.
