Responses by Brent David Freaney, designer and developer, Special—Offer.
Background: The purpose of relaunching our website was to showcase Special—Offer’s capabilities and give a first-time, in-depth look into past projects.
Design core: The colors we are using on the website are not colors that are actually available in standard Chrome, Firefox or Safari settings. In order to get the site as vibrant and saturated as possible, we ended up hacking the GPU using blend modes to bring in hues that have never been seen on websites before.
Favorite details: We used a really brutalist design that feels rigid, but simultaneously pushed the boundaries of the browser to create something that feels futuristic, which excites us.
Navigation structure: For users who think that the site is too bright, we have a nifty night mode setting that can be activated by clicking the flower icon.
Technology: We used Vue.js with Nuxt.js on a Prismic back end.
Anything else? What we do at Special—Offer is much more than standard web development, which required a further explanation than simple text. As a result, we created an Easter egg video component that is a fun explanation about the irreverent nature of our work.
