Background: The site is meant to showcase the SQSP creative team’s people, work, process, point of view and culture with an eye on attracting the best talent.
Favorite details: The “Culture” page is one of our favorites because there are a lot of little flourishes that come together really nicely. My favorite element is the fractal image effect. On scroll, it assembles a bunch of geometric pieces into one image. The GIF that jumps from section to section is also really great. This same animation behavior is also represented in the menu overlay which turned out snappy and fluid and reacts to the users interaction.
Navigation structure: We created an intro page that provides a brief overview of every section of the site. Then on top of the intro page, a menu overlay represents all of these aspects again, enabling the user to jump anywhere in the site. We also created an interactive mouse that shows exactly which interactions are available depending on the element the user hovers over.
Technology: The entire site is built on Squarespace 7.1, our current and newest system. We have a pretty well designed and robust backend that literally lets us replace, change, add or delete any part of the website directly through the CMS.
