A constellation made up of 42 members, 7,000 partner organizations and more than 250,000 people in 200 different countries and territories, Start Network seeks new approaches to reducing human suffering through effective humanitarian aid. To differentiate its online platform from the usual charity website, digital agency Mirum’s London and South Africa offices teamed up to create a platform that offers visitors a transparent look into the network’s allocation of funds and its proposed and activated projects across the globe. The site’s design draws inspiration from the network’s distinctive makeup and its ability to allocate funds within 72 hours of receiving them.
While designing the site, Mirum had the added challenge of ensuring that Start Network’s myriad of stakeholders would be able to find the site easy to use. Built in Drupal, the site has an integration with Salesforce to provide information on real-time funding alerts. To mitigate Start Network’s complexity, Mirum implemented a filtered search system, enabling visitors to browse partners and alerts by region, alert type, crisis type or funds allocated.
