Background: Stewart & Partners (S&P) is a Cape Town–based creative architecture studio rooted in collaboration and disruption, challenging the status quo. After completing a rebrand for the studio, we created the website that lives as an extension of the brand and aims to live as a digital home.
Design core: Having worked on the branding, we had a chance to bring the branding into a digital space through the web design. Inspired by the fundamental elements of the ampersand, we developed the logo and a system to let it morph into S&P’s subsidiary logos, each representing a part of the brand. This created a grid system that informed the website design. The inspiration was largely driven by print- and editorial-style layouts and bringing elements of this tangible experience into the digital realm.
Favorite details: The way the brand identity was brought to life in a digital space, enabling the users to interact and engage with the visual language on a deeper level than through static print design.
New lessons: We were reminded of how content plays a big role in how a website comes to life. We were lucky to have worked with S&P and its beautiful content from its completed projects, letting the design really highlight the work.
Special navigational features: We wanted the site to be smooth and easy to navigate, creating a seamless experience. As users navigate through the site, there are a few Easter eggs to surprise them and create part of the digital experience.
