Founded by philanthropist couple Eli and Edythe Broad, the Broad Foundation tackles the complex mission of supporting nonprofits working in various public areas around the United States. Its new site, created by Vail, Colorado–based boutique marketing agency 970 Design, conveys the foundation’s complicated undertaking with a welcoming design and a simple, easy-to-use navigation. “To showcase the Broad Foundation’s numerous missions, we put tremendous focus on the navigation and other UX/UI elements,” says project manager Elise Reynolds of 970 Design. “By designing with minimal navigation options, iconography, sticky headers and numerous layered pathways, the site allows every visitor her or his own adventure without any dead ends. The Broad Foundation is truly changing the world, and we wanted to make that easy for users to explore.” Visitors can explore the Broad Foundation’s donatees by discipline, such as education, science and the arts, to understand the different causes and institutions to which the foundation has contributed.
