With locations in Guernsey and Jersey, UK design firm The Potting Shed offers its clients expansive, full-service solutions in the arenas of design, advertising and digital media. Its portfolio site is no exception: every detail sparkles, enchanting its visitors with the design firm’s personality as they explore its extensive portfolio. “We needed our site to showcase all our client work, but still reflect The Potting Shed’s personality,” says Ed Prow, The Potting Shed’s managing director of its Jersey location. “Most importantly, the site needed to be superflexible, allowing us to easily manage our portfolio items—no matter the number of images or videos.” To handle the site’s heavy lifting, The Potting Shed’s development team settled on running its images through the Cloudflare content delivery network, making use of its optimization tools. Content is also loaded dynamically in the background; to mitigate the engagement gap caused by loading times, The Potting Shed created custom SVG animations to keep visitors captivated. Several Easter eggs are at play throughout the site that visitors will have to find for themselves, as Prow says, “we don’t want to spoil the fun!”
