Founded by branding creative director Jesse Kaczmarek and digital creative director Andy Gugel, creative firm The Rivalry prides itself on being a collaboration of opposites. The agency’s new site, with development by Berlin, Germany–based studio Pillar, features its portfolio with a clean layout design that lets the work speak for itself. Carefully selecting one typeface and two colors for the site, The Rivalry created a minimal identity system that acts as a unifying backdrop for its diverse work. “Our featured projects on the site showcase different visual languages from one brand to the next,” says Gugel, “so it was important that our own brand be neutral.” The portfolio section features highly visual, light and easy-to-browse layouts, while the agency’s information section features stark type on a black background, visually separating the two sections and subtly celebrating The Rivalry’s duality.
