Murders along the misty lochs of Scotland and a roving car chase along its dunes—what better way to show off the ruggedness of a Land Rover? At the behest of Land Rover, novelist and screenwriter William Boyd wrote a thriller that follows a struggling actor who finds himself ensnared in a real-world crime plot. The interactive story—with 73 pages, or 82 minutes of content—offers 500 scenes of photos, animations and videos behind scrolling text. Narration by a soothing British voice actor, as well as a gripping soundtrack, raise the suspense. Each layer of content may be turned on and off, giving users full control over their storytelling experience. The result of a collaboration between Y&R, Tool of North America and Wunderman, the experience was created on the React framework, with help from HTML5, CSS3 and Amazon Cloud. By developing on a browser framework as opposed to an app, the experience became truly multi-platform, with mobile and tablet versions as fully realized as the desktop experience.
