With development by Bryan James, Manchester, UK–based creative digital agency ToyFight designed a playful portfolio site to let people know that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Greeting visitors on the homepage, two nude action figures—modeled on the agency’s cofounders and creative directors Jonny Lander and Leigh Whipday—convey ToyFight’s sense of humor right away. “Once we settled on the name ToyFight for the agency,” Whipday explains, “we came up with the idea of creating toy versions of ourselves that we could use to capture our sense of humor and creativity.” Scale and perspective also play an important role in showcasing ToyFight’s artful creativity; as an homage to M. C. Escher, the background on the ‘Work’ page revolves with each new project displayed, mimicking the complex perspective of the artist’s work. Vivid colors and seamless transitions—and Whipday attempting to jump Lander with a motorcycle—make the site a pleasure to explore.
