Background: Unleash the Beast lets users experience the emotion and adrenaline that each beast—Dodge muscle cars—produces when it is released. We based the project’s development on the power, aggressiveness and performance of Dodge muscle cars.
Design core: The site’s visual style represents the cars’ classic essence, using a sepia color scheme. At the beginning of the experience, we wanted to invoke some mystery so users could discover some features of the beast, from the cars’ small details, to their exteriors and to the complex structures of their V8 engines.
Challenges: Our biggest challenge—beyond just having the website done—was making the renders on time. To give the site its realistic visuals, we spent more than 2,000 hours on rendering alone.
Technology: We used many different tools in Unleash the Beast’s development. For the design, we used Adobe Photoshop. The Intro and Main Menu of the site were made with three.js. For the front end, we used PHP/PUG/TypeScript/SASS. In the development of the video, we used Adobe After Effects for the construction and DaVinci Resolve for the color correction. All of the 3-D was done in 3ds Max.
