When approaching his own portfolio project, designer Luke Finch of WeLoveNoise knew that he needed a site that would immediately show his ability to think outside the box. In collaboration with developer Simon Lindsay, Finch created an online portfolio with an entirely fresh form of navigation that is as striking as it is intuitive to navigate. The homepage arranges WeLoveNoise’s projects with black and white emblems along a transparent timeline graphic, featuring a variety of circular and rectangular images, and subtle GIF animations. Case studies feature content specifically created for each project, illustrating the process and diving into the rationale of Finch’s design thinking. “WeLoveNoise has always been a digital playground for me to experiment with,” says Finch. “Over the coming months, expect to see more features added to the site in subtle ways.” He hints that some future content might be hidden behind hovers or until visitors press keys, so visitors with a sense of exploration will be well rewarded.
