For a catalog of products as extensive as lighting company Zumtobel’s, creating an online atlas for visitors to navigate can seem like a daunting task. Brooklyn, New York–based digital studio Anton & Irene hit exactly the right density of data with this elegantly designed site. “We wanted to make sure lighting designers and architects would be able to quickly find the right amount of information at the right time,” says Anton and Irene’s UX designer and partner Irene Pereyra. “We decided to group all products into fourteen ‘Family’ pages that house Zumtobel’s hundreds of different products, designing an extremely effective table that allows users to easily scan between the different product options without having to go into a product page.” The Family pages bring up all pertinent information for Zumtobel’s types of products, including mounting options, sizes, color temperatures, color renderings, watts and lighting technologies. The site also offers in-depth case studies for each project, and visitors can swipe left or right on mobile devices to view other related product pages. “The best thing about the whole project is that we received incredibly positive feedback from real users after the launch,” Pereyra says. “That is always the real reward.”
